Jaipur: Veteran actor Dilip Kumar on Sunday was conferred with ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ for his upstanding contribution to Indian cinema at the Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF).
Actor Anumpam Kher received the award and the citation including a shawl and srifal (coconut), on his behalf at the inaugural ceremony at Golcha theatre at Pink city (Jaipur).
In his brief speech, Kher said,”Dilip sahab was our idol and I have worked with him in 3-4 films, in one of which I had got a slap too”.
“By accepting this award on his (Dilip Kumar) behalf, a heavy weight lies on me, as there are 30 years for me to receive such a felicitation,” Kher said.
In a video message Dilip Kumar’s wife Saira Bano said, “Dilip sahib will be very happy and feel honoured with this award. Due to doctors’ advice, he could not come to ‘Gulabi Nagari’ to receive it. His health is recovering from pneumonia in the past. It is lovely to be honoured for all of us”.
JIFF conferred another lifetime achievement award to Iranian film-maker Majid Majidi for his upstanding contribution to the cinema.
Malika Ameen, actor of Iranian films, received the award on his behalf which carried a citation, shawl and srifal.
Actor Pallavi Joshi, Padmshri and film-maker Shaji N Karun, National Film Award winner Dr Biju and director Vivek Agnihotri among others were also present during the ceremony.
