Whats NOT hot this Valentine

Date:

Everyone likes gift from someone special. A gift no matter how big or small is a testimony that you care.

In this Valentine season, when love is in the air and romance at its peak; it is time for you to show your loved ones how much you care. NewsMobile spoke to some of the lovebirds in the capital and compiled the definitive list of the gifts which are an absolute no no.

1. Diet Pills, Gym Membership and Exercise Equipment, Anjum pointed out “this can definitely be a very thoughtful gift, but has an underlying meaning – what’s wrong with you; watch your weight; you have grown so fat ever since I met you. Better safe, than sorry”.

2. Devashish said “roses are overrated, we are out of the era when roses were the only flower to symbolize love; it’s time for renovation; try carnation, orchids, lilies….aren’t they pretty too. No Roses Pleaseeeee!”

3. Somasekhar affirmed that a heart-shaped balloon, red roses equal in number to age of the person; all this is so cheesy.

4. Pragati pointed, “Probably people should avoid gifting their framed or enlarged picture; that’s like being so self-obsessed.

5. All right, this has got to be something ghastly remarked Nimish, “a book on being a casual romantic (perhaps a copy of The Game), a music album about the unfaithful, depressing books, a DVD of Omkara, are a big NO.” He added saying, “avoid gifting stale flowers or flowers tied with dirty ribbons, have seen so many idiots do that and it’s a big turn off. Also if you are planning to send a customized message, make sure that there are no typos.”

6. Subhasish mentioned, “Avoid gifting a teddy bear, it’s been exploited quite a bit.” Somya who seconds the same opinion remarked, “Never gift a teddy bear. I have seen girls gifting teddy’s to their boyfriend.”

7. Thinking really hard, Sagar pointed out, “Socks in theory it sounds great and who doesn’t need socks? But try and imagine the disappointment that will surely cross the receiver’s face; that itself is reason let it go.

8. Sensitive Akshat, living in the insensitive world remarked, “I will never gift a pet to my valentine; what if the relationship fails? I will die of guilt if the pet is not taken care of.

9. Taking a witty take on the gifting angle, Ankit commented, “I think no one should gift ‘a cactus’, as it can be really hurtful.

10.  Aradhya added, “Never give anything which she loves, that can divert the attention you are getting.”

‘If you want to feel rich just count all the things that money can’t buy’; none of us really care about the size of the gift; I personally don’t need big gifts. I will just love anything he gets me, all that matters to me is just being with him.

As we all look forward to the celebration of love, do share your valentine experience; we at News Mobile have all ears. Post it on I Journo on NewsMobile.

Hope you have a ‘Happy Valentine’s Day.’
