RSS goes social to endorse IT initiative

Date:

Bengaluru: After successfully creating his space in the minds of the youth in Karnataka, where not a lot of politicians are active on social media, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is urging BJP’s ideological head RSS to include social media in its activities to push its global agenda.

Following Modi’s indications, RSS RSS pracharaks have been mobilising support from the IT community for its various initiatives.

“Plenty of our boys who attended RSS meetings during school and college days, are now part of the huge IT workforce in Bengaluru and elsewhere. We are just tapping this pool through their friends and relatives. Interestingly, a majority of them are extending their support to us voluntarily,” sources in the RSS in Bengaluru said.

For instance, for the recent Virat Hindu Samjothsava organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, a number of techies turned out in huge numbers. They also played an active role in uploading the content of the event on leading online platforms, including Twitter and Facebook after the police banned their leader Praveen Togadia from Bengaluru.

The RSS leader attribute this involuntary support from the techies to Modi. “Our PM was able to establish a rapport with the youth without any extravagant promise. He spoke to them in their language and in their medium. The youth is of the view that he is a visionary leader who will deliver. That’s why they are attending our meetings regularly,” he said.

Incidentally, some of the important inputs for Modi’s online reputation management during the polls came from Bengaluru. “These kids know how to harness the social media tools effectively to deliver the best of the results for our digital campaigns. Now, we intend to extend this beyond what was done during the elections,” RSS sources said.

According to techies, there was a vast gap between other political parties and the youth. “But Modi belongs to a different category. He reflects the aspirations of the youth. Some of us voluntarily offered a few plans and IT initiatives to the BJP through our local leaders. They have been well accepted. Going forward, we can see more of our campaigns and content on the Internet,” said techie Anand, who refused to reveal the name of his employers.
