SanDisk Corp. SNDK, recently unveiled the world’s highest capacity microSD card — Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Premium Edition. The launch has enhanced its solid state drive (SSD) portfolio.
The card that will be available worldwide is expected to improve the computing experience (especially on mobile devices).
SanDisk is preparing for the smartphone future with the a new dual USB drive with Type C connector. As future smartphones and tablets are expected to launch with the new reversible USB port, the SanDisk Dual USB Drive allows users to store information and move files from the drive and their computers, smartphones and tablets.
The 32GB flash storage drive has built-in connector tips for both a full-size USB and Type C ports so users won’t need to carry additional cables or adapters.
The Dual USB Drive is similar to SanDisk’s iXpand Flash drive for the iPhone and iPad. One connector of the iXpand Flash can plug into a full-size USB port on a computer while the other end can connect to an iPhone through the Lightning tip. The iXpand Flash is now available with a 128GB maximum storage capacity. The 200GB microSD card offers up to 90MB/sec sequential read speeds versus 30MB/sec offered by the previous 128GB version making it an exceptionally fast and cost-effective storage solution. This memory card, carrying a 10-year limited warranty and a price tag of $399.99, is likely to be available by second-quarter 2015 worldwide.
Separately, the flash memory storage provider introduced an enhanced version of embedded flash drive (EFD) — iNAND 7132 — with 64GB storage space and high read/write speed which will complement smartphones and other mobile computing devices. The iNAND device loads applications faster, offers speedy data synchronization in the cloud and higher streaming capabilities for an enhanced user experience.
