All she wanted was a slushie really

Tacony: A 4-year-old girl was found all alone riding the bus in Northeast Philadelphia early Friday morning. She was on the bus alone because she really wanted a slushie.

CCTV pictures show Annabel Ridgeway, getting on the bus in Philadelphia at three in the morning.

She told passengers she got dressed, unlocked the front door and walked off because she wanted a slushie from a nearby convenience store.

According to CCTV footage, the search for the frozen treat began around 3 a.m. on Fridaywhen a man who found the little girl flagged down a municipal bus.

Surveillance video from the bus shows Annabelle getting onto the bus and taking a seat.

“I was like, whoa, you’ve got to be kidding me,” bus driver Harlan Jenifer said. “Not at this time of the night, 3:00 in the morning, a little girl? She’s a small thing. Kind of just shocked me.”

Passengers comforted Annabelle while the bus driver called police. It then became clear what little Annabelle’s mission was.

“She had her mind set,” said Jenifer. “‘All I want is a slushie.’ That’s all.”

Annabelle was reunited with her parents within an hour and they were thankful she was found.

“He saved my daughter’s life,” said mother Jaclyn Mager. “I’ll be forever grateful.”

Since the incident, the parents have reconfigured the locks at their home.
