Dear Delhi do you dare?

Date:

Delhi Daredevils. Say what? Delhi Daredevils. Dare who? Delhi Daredevils, the IPL side from Delhi? Oh yes, Delhi Daredevils. Thanks to their sort of permanent status in the bottom half of the points table, no one really remembers them. Like they say, out of sight is as good as out of mind.

The Delhi Daredevils’ lack of consistency in team has been their major drawback. They’ve had some immensely talented players that they let go, slicing and dicing the team configuration on the chopping board every single edition. Hence, to expect stable results from this rather unstable side is too much of an asking.

This time around, there are several players though, who can weave a bit of their magic wand to fish the team out of the crisis zone. For starters, their batting would be dependent on Quinton de Kock and Gautam Gambhir. Apart from that, they’ve roped in the services of Yuvraj Singh this time around. Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh both would be rusty, thanks to the lack of any recent international assignments coming their way.

Their batting looks wavering, but it i9s their bowling attack that looks good. With Mohammad Shami fresh from a productive World Cup and JP Duminy to assist with both bat and ball, let’s hope the Daredevils spin some web to trap the rest of the teams. Angelo Mathews and Albie Morkel could also chip in. Zaheer Khan’s purchase should bear fruits, hopefully.

Key players: Mohammad Shami, JP Duminy

Squad: JP Duminy (capt), Quinton De Kock (wk), Kedar Jadhav, Manoj Tiwary, Mohammed Shami, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Saurabh Tiwary, Shahbaz Nadeem, Mayank Agarwal, Imran Tahir, Jayant Yadav, Angelo Mathews, Yuvraj Singh, Amit Mishra, Jaydev Unadkat, Gurinder Sandhu, Shreyas Iyer, CM Gautam (wk), Domnic Muthuswamy, Travis Head, KS Bharat (wk), Albie Morkel, Marcus Stoinis, Zaheer Khan, KK Jiyaz.
