Pedrosa to miss out again in Spain

Date:

Honda MotoGP rider Dani Pedrosa will miss a third consecutive Grand Prix in Jerez this weekend as he continues to recover from surgery on a forearm injury.

The Spaniard missed the Grand Prix of the Americas and the Argentine Grand Prix after suffering discomfort in his right forearm in finishing sixth in the opening race of the season in Qatar.

And he will again be absent on home soil in the hope of being ready for the French Grand Prix in Le Mans on May 17.

“I won’t be in Jerez. Yesterday I tried to ride a supermotard bike to check my arm. Even though at first it felt OK, after riding my forearm still didn’t feel 100 percent,” Pedrosa said in his weekly blog on repsol.com.

“I know that if I do a whole race by the weekend it will be much worse, and the last thing I want is to create another big problem. So it has been a very difficult decision to make, but I think the best is to wait a while longer, go ahead with the rehabilitation and be back in Le Mans.”

Pedrosa’s teammate and world champion Marc Marquez also faces a race against time to fit to ride in Jerez after breaking the pinky finger in his left hand in a training accident last weekend.
