Princess celebrates India journey in Thailand

Date:

Bangkok: Prime Minister of Thailand Gen Prayuth Chan-Ocha inaugurated the ‘India through the lens of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’ photo exhibition, which is part of the Festival of India in Thailand hosted by the Indian Embassy.

The photos were taken by the Princess, a scholar of Sanskrit and Indophile, during her 15 official visits to India.

She is the Patron of the World Sanskrit Conference that will bring together some 500 scholars of Sanskrit in Bangkok in June 2015 and will be attended by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj as Chief Guest.

The Princess will attend the concluding event of the three-month long Festival of India called ‘Words on Water’, involving leading Indian authors on 25 May.

PM Prayuth was enamoured of the photo exhibition and commented that the Princess had taken the photos of India from her heart.

The exhibition and recently held authors round table as part of Festival of India in Thailand has been choreographed by Harsh Shringla, the dynamic Indian Envoy to Thailand.

With a slew of initiatives Shringla has taken the India Thailand relations and the Focus East Asia to a new high.

This strategy has also helped create a strategic edge for India in a country that is pivotal for India’s strategic and economic outreach. This has also provided a new dimension to the focus East Asia strategy of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
