Naresh Kumar new NDMC Chief

New Delhi: Senior IAS officer Naresh Kumar was appointed as the new chairman of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).

Kumar, a 1987 batch IAS officer of AGMUT cadre, is presently Managing Director of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission Board.

The appointment was made in consultation with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, an order issued by the Union Home Ministry said.

Kumar had previously worked as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Delhi Transport Corporation, as a Joint Secretary, Ministry of Mines and as an Additional Commissioner in the erstwhile Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

He will take over from Dharam Pal, who was appointed as adhoc chairman of NDMC after Jalaj Srivastava was transferred to the Central deputation on May 1.

Kumar, a graduate in Mechanical Engineering and Masters in Business Administration and Financial Management, also hails from Delhi.
