Smartphones experiencing a “boom” !

Date:

New Delhi: You know when they said they were having a blast with their phones, 30-year-old Surat based diamond merchant Bhavesh Thummer never thought he would be saying that in the literal sense of the term, from a hospital bed.

Yep, it’s true. His phone landed him in the hospital and almost took his eyes and ears along with it.

The smartphone in his pocket exploded, and then he understood that it isn’t just dangerous, it is actually dangerous. He is now recuperating at the Surat Municipal Corporation-run SMIMER hospital, and is said to be out of danger.

Smartphones have become a necessity now, with wifi and all that jazz seemingly making our lives easier. While we go gaga over the cameras they have and the features they support, what we fail to realise is the fact that they are poisoning different parts of our bodies, little by little.

We tend to sleep with our phones, unaware that it’s dangerous. Fine, some of us are aware, but we still continue doing it. From our morning alarms, to keeping a tab on time, from our bustling social lives to communications, the little shiny plate-like thing serves every purpose, and we are so addicted to it, so head over heels in love with it, that we ignore its flaws and marry it saying till death do us part!

This isn’t the first time phones have exploded. There have been a number of instances when phones have worked like a timebomb, a recent case in Gurgaon, where an iPhone exploded.

Listen up, ladies and gentlemen, it’s good to be smart, but then not just your phones.

– Don’t receive calls when your phones are on charge. Plug it out and talk. Why take chances?

– Ok, I know you need your phones right by your side, even when you snooze. Please don’t put it under your pillows. Keep it on the side table, please.

– When reading on your phone, keep the text two fonts bigger than the last size you can read. And no matter how interesting it is, remember to blink.

– Don’t use it while in petrol pumps.

And please don’t ask me why. Your life is precious and hospital beds are expensive.
