It seems like there is a new twist to Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s hit-and-run story. The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear a petition filed by the mother of a deceased Mumbai police constable, seeking transfer of actor Salman Khan’s hit-and-run case from Mumbai to Delhi.
A bench led by Justice T S Thakur fixed the petition for consideration on Monday after advocate M L Sharma, appearing on behalf of the victim’s mother, mentioned it for urgent listing.
The plea has also asked for the cancellation of the bail given to the actor. Salman’s appeal against his five-year jail term in the 2002 hit-and-run case is currently pending before the Bombay High Court.
The petitioner, mother of Ravindra Patil, then acting as Salman’s official bodyguard, has contended that there was no chance of getting justice in Maharashtra in view of the bias in favour of the actor there and hence, Salman’s appeal should be heard by the Delhi High Court.
