Mumbai: Mumbai Police has arrested the man who is accused of masturbating in front of an American woman in public. The FIR was registered against the man on Tuesday for outraging a woman’s modesty. The police had recorded the woman’s statement.
He was, however, released on bail shortly after his arrest on a personal bond of Rs 5000.
“We have arrested Gopal Jagdish Valmiki, a resident of Bhid Bunder, Colaba on Wednesday 1.30am from his residence,” confirmed Mumbai police spokesperson deputy commissioner of police Dhananjay Kulkarni.
The action comes after the woman on Tuesday flayed the man on social media for masturbating in front of her in public near Gateway of India while she was on her morning walk.
She posted a picture of the accused on Twitter which has gone viral. The woman said the man ran away when she tried to confront him.
She had received support from Maharashtra Chief Minister’s office too.
