Pope Francis is planning to release an album title ‘Wake Up!’ and first track ‘Wake Up! Go! Go! Forward!’ is now available to stream.
“‘Wake Up! Go! Go! Forward!’ finds Pope Francis addressing a South Korean audience in English last year amid atmospheric synths, trumpeting horns and skyscraping electric guitars reminiscent of Godspeed You! Black Emperor. “Wake up / Wake up,” Pope Francis says on the track.
‘Wake Up!’, the pope’s first foray into the music business, is being released by distributor Believe Digital.
The album will release on November 27 and, according to Rolling Stone, will be a prog-rock-infused LP spreading the Pope’s message of hope, faith and unity. With genres ranging from pop to Gregorian chant, it will set his words and prayers to musical accompaniment.
The album can be pre-ordered on iTunes, and doing so will get listeners an instant download of the first track.
