Bomb hoax delays Chennai-bound train

Date:

New Delhi: A bomb hoax on a train headed for Chennai from New Delhi railway station on Friday left passengers hassled, as the train got delayed by two hours.

One of the passengers on the Tamil Nadu Express intimated the police about an unattended bag in the train. Other passengers were left confused when the train rolled back into the New Delhi station for a thorough investigation.

“We asked a guard as to why the train had been delayed and he told us that there were doubts about a bomb being planted in the train and checking was going on,” a passenger, Prashant Verma, said.

“This train was scheduled to leave at 10:30 pm and it did leave on time but it was called back shortly after it left the station,” he added.

Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, with sniffer dogs, searched the train thoroughly and declared the threat a hoax.
