The head of Volkswagen’s US division apologized to Congress and vowed to take “full responsibility” for an emissions cheating scandal, according to testimony released Wednesday.
Michael Horn, president and chief executive of Volkswagen Group of America, offered a “sincere apology” for employing a “defeat device” on several diesel models that hid from regulators the cars’ actual gas emissions when in use. Horn’s remarks were released ahead of a Capitol Hill hearing Thursday.
