C’garh mulls to run 74 model schools under PPP mode

Date:

The Chhattisgarh government is contemplating to run its 74 model schools under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode in a bid to improve the quality of education and facilities in government schools.

“Chief Minister Raman Singh will inaugurate a day-long workshop-cum-investors meet on October 19 where the proposal to operate 74 model schools of state government through PPP model would be deliberated upon,” a government spokesperson said here today.

Notably, as per the approval received from Human Resource Development Ministry, model schools were set up in the 2010-11 session to provide quality education to children in 74 development blocks of Chhattisgarh, which are backwards in terms of education facility, he said.

However, the Central government handed over the authority of these schools to the state government in March 2015, he said.

Now the government is planning to run these schools under PPP model and therefore the State Secondary Education Mission is organising the workshop as investors’ meet to discuss the issue, he said.

Citizens or investors interested in participating in the workshop may get further details from office of Secondary Education Mission, he added.
