Tom Felton joins Kate Mara in indie war hero drama

Date:

“Harry Potter” actor Tom Felton is joining Kate Mara in an untitled indie drama focusing on the true story of Iraq War hero Megan Leavey.

Gabriela Cowperthwaite, the helmer behind the documentary “Blackfish”, is directing the drama that centres on Leavey, a Marine in a K9 bomb sniffing unit in Iraq, and the bond with her dog, Rex.

They served two six-month tours and undertook over 100 missions before a detonation wounded them both.

Mara, 32, is playing the Marine, while Edie Falco is on board to play her mother. 28-year-old Felton, best known for playing Draco Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” film series, will play a veteran dog handler.

The film will shoot in Spain, South Carolina and New York.
