We inquired the guard commander and CO (Commandant) who informed that Surinder had fired and killed his wife Khushi and also committed suicide by firing at self. We took a case on the basis of complaint by the BSF and investigation is on,” he said.

According to police, the 27-year-old constable had shot his wife using his service rifle.

The reason behind constable’s action could not be ascertained but the suspicion is that it could have been due to some family feud over Khushi’s previous husband and child.

Surinder hailed from Orissa while Khushi was from Amtali near Agartala. The couple had married just seven months back.

The bodies of the ill-fated couple have been taken to mortuary of the G B Panth hospital for post-mortem.
