In the wake of the horrific Paris attacks, which lead to the death of 129 people, Congress leader Sandeep Dixit said on Monday that the West had woken up to terrorism only after the 9/11 attacks.
Dixit said that terrorism had been rampant world over even before the Twin Towers attack, but they had not paid much heed to it.
He said, “They never care when terrorism was hitting India, nor did they care when it came to the Middle East. It’s only after what happened in the terrible airplane led terrorism in New York that the West truly realised that terrorism is something that can hit everybody. Now it’s unfortunately hitting their nation.”
He said that the West never deemed as important the terror related incidents taing place outside of the Western nations. Dixit said that only recently 43 people were killed by the dreaded ISIS in Beirut, and there were no protests against that.
“It’s good that these nations have also recognised the fact that terrorism cannot and should not be allowed anywhere in the world. It has to be more comprehensive. What happened in Paris is something to be taken in a war footing across the world. Just two days before in Beirut, 43 people were killed by the IS. How come nobody protested that?” Dixit added.
Dixit had words of condemnation for the dastardly attacks which hit Paris last weekend, and, said that every terror attack was an attack on humanity.
