Two militants killed in factional fight in Manipur

Two militants were killed and one was seriously injured in a factional fight between United Tribal Liberation Army (UTLA) of Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and an UTLA breakaway group led by Paokhai at Laikot village located in Manipur’s Tamenglong district yesterday evening, the police today said.

The deceased persons were identified as Kaikhosem of Kaimai village in Manipur’s Tamenglong district, a close associate of UTLA/KNO’s General Secretary Anaconda alias S T Singsit and Ngulla of Gumhui village in Churachandpur district of Manipur, the police said adding, the injured was identified as Thangboi of Ngahmunphai village under Tousem Sub-Division in Tamenglong district.

UTLA Paokhai group opened fire on seven UTLA/KNO cadres and killed two while they were having dinner in a house at Laikot village where both the factions have agreed to have a talk to bring an understanding between the two groups, the police said.

The UTLA Paokhai group did not come under the suspension of operation between the Centre and government of Manipur, they said.
