Jharkhand leader Gautam Sagar Rana rejoins RJD

Date:

Senior leader from Jharkhand Gautam Sagar Rana today rejoined Lalu Prasad’s RJD and was made the convenor of its membership campaign committee.

Rana had been the state president of both RJD and JDU in past and joined the BJP sometime ago.

“Our old socialist friend Rana has come back to RJD who has earlier gone to BJP. He has deserted BJP now and come back to us saying that its a homecoming for him and he will never leave RJD again,” RJD Chief Lalu Prasad told PTI.

Prasad said that RJD has started an intense membership drive in the state and is “determined to root” out BJP from the state.

Before joining BJP, Rana also had a brief stint with Babulal Marandi’s JVM(P). The tribal state is currently ruled by BJP which has also formed the first government in Jharkhand in 2000 after its creation. Jharkhand was carved out of Bihar when Prasad’s RJD was ruling the undivided state.

The decision to make old warhorse Rana the convenor of the RJD’s membership campaign was taken after a meeting attended by all senior leaders including Annapurna Devi, Sanjay Yadav and others, said Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand Prem Chand Gupta.
