Japanese PM Shinzo Abe to arrive in India today

Date:

New Delhi: Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will start his three day visit to India as he will arrive in New Delhi on Friday to attend the annual summit and will hold delegation level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.

Talks will be followed by signing of agreements and joint Press statement by two leaders and the Japanese Prime Minister will address business leaders’ forum and will inaugurate Japan-India Innovation Seminar.

The visiting dignitary, accompanied by Prime Minister Modi, will also visit Varanasi tomorrow and attend Ganga Aarti at Dasaswamedh Ghat as the two leaders had signed a pact to develop Varanasi as a Smart City during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Japan in August last year.

The progress of work according to that pact is likely to be discussed during the visit. Prime Minister Abe will also meet President Pranab Mukherjee during his stay in Delhi.

The two Prime Ministers, at the last summit meeting held in Tokyo, had agreed to elevate the relationship to Special Strategic and Global Partnership.
