Mumbai witnessed its coldest winter in years on Wednesday night, with temperatures dipping to 11.6°C.
According to a report published in Mid Day, the city usually experiences about 17°C temperature during December. This was about 6 degrees below normal.
Minimum temperatures have been witnessing a significant drop. While, there has been slight dip in maximum temperatures.
On Thursday, Mumbai witnessed minimum dropping further to 11.4°C.
The cold northerly winds reaching upto the North coastal Maharashtra across Rajasthan and Gujarat has dropped the minimums in all these areas, reports Mid Day.
As Mumbai shivered at 11 degrees, Mahabaleswhar recorded a temparature of 14 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperature in December, which usually hovers around 24 degree Celsius in Mahabaleshwar has risen five degrees above normal this year. The minimum temperature which is usually 13 degree Celsius was at least 17 degree Celsius since the past week.
