China forms a security alliance with Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Tajikistan

Chinese state media reported on Thursday that, China is going to form an anti- terrorism alliance with Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan to deal with the emerging domestic militant threat in Xinjiang.

According to Xinhua news agency of China, All the four countries acknowledged the danger of terrorism and extremism to regional stability, and they decided to establish a “four-country mechanism” for intelligence sharing and training. “All parties reaffirmed they will cooperate to respond to these forces, and safeguard all member countries’ peace and stability,” Xinhua said.

Afghan army chief of general staff, General Qadam Shah Shaheem, Pakistani army chief General Raheel Sharif, and the Chief of General Staff of the Tajikistan armed forces, Major General E. A. Cobidrzoda, registered their presence in the talks.

According to Chinese government an Islamic group the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), wants to establish a separate state in Xinjiang. This outfit is also listed as a terror group by the United States and the United Nations.
