Patna, Aug 16 (PTI) Heavy showers lashed Sheikhpura andSamastipur districts of Bihar whereas light to moderaterainfall recorded in most places in south west and southcentral parts of the state since yesterday, Meteorologicaldepartment said. Light rainfall occurred at a few places in north west,north central and south east parts of the state apart from oneor two places in north eastern parts of the state. Sheikhpura town received the highest amount of rainfallof 11 cm, followed by 9 cm in Barbigha also in Sheikhpuradistrict, 8 cm in Pusa in Samastipur district, 6 cm each inKinjar in Arwal district and Deo in Aurangabad district, and 5cm each in Galgalia in Kisanganj district and Bodhgaya in Gayadistrict. The state capital remained hot and humid all through theday. The MeT department has predicted one or two spells ofrain or thundershowers in the next 24 hours in various partsof the state. Patna, Gaya and Purnea are expected to witness agenerally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain orthundershowers while Bhagalpur may witness generally cloudysky with light rain. Patna recorded the highest maximum temperature at 35.9degrees Celsius among prominent cities followed by 35.6degrees Celsius in Purnea, 33.5 degrees Celsius in Bhagalpurand 32.6 degrees Celsius at Gaya. Gaya and Bhagalpur remained the most humid place witheach registering a maximum morning humidity level at 85 percent followed by 81 per cent of humidity level in Patna and 79per cent in Purnea.
