US, India need to unite in order to stop terrorism:Lokesh Muni

Chicago, Aug 16 (PTI) Observing that violence andterrorism are not the solution to any problem, a Jainspiritual leader has said that the United States and Indianeed to unite in order to stop terrorism and violence. "Peace is necessary for development but the whole worldis affected by violence and terrorism. Violence and terrorismare not the solution to any problem," Acharya Lokesh Muni saidat the flag hoisting ceremony organised by India’s ChicagoConsulate General Dr Asuf Sayeed at Richard J Daley Centre inChicago on the occasion of Indian Independence Day yesterday. "The US and India need to unite in order to stopterrorism and violence. We should work together to find waysand means to propagate peace, harmony and human brotherhood,"he said. Congratulating Indian-Americans on 70th anniversary ofIndia’s independence, the spiritual leader said India’snon-violent struggle for freedom, its rejection of terrorismand extremism, its belief in democracy, tolerance and the ruleof law have been an inspiration and beacon of hope for peoplearound the world.
