4 arrested for attack on Teotia, to be booked under NSA

Lucknow, Aug 17 (PTI) Four persons have been arrested inconnection with the attack on senior BJP leader Brijpal Teotiaand five others in Ghaziabad and will be booked under theNational Security Act, police said today. Shooters Nishant alias Jeetu, Rahul Tyagi, Ramkumar andJitendra alias Popey have been arrested by a joint team of STFand police from Muradnagar area of Ghazibad last night, ADG,Law and order, Daljeet Chowdhury told reporters here. In Ghaziabad, I G (Meerut Range) Sujit Pandey said thatthe four arrested, jailed under appropriate sections IPC, willbe booked under National Security Act and Gangster act. The incident was fallout of old enmity with family ofSuresh Diwan, who was murdered in 1999 in Mahrauli village andTeotia was named in it, both the officers said. Diwan’s son Manish and Vikky and nephew Manoj had plannedthe attack to take revenge and arranged weapons like AK-47,carbine and pistols, Chowdhury said. During interrogation names of other youths involved in theincident also came up and attempts are on to nab them, hesaid. The attack on Teotia took place at Raoli Road underMuradnagar police station in Ghaziabad on August 11 and fivepeople were also injured in the incident. Teotia, who had contested the 2012 Uttar Pradesh Assemblyelection from Muradnagar constituency, was on his way toGhaziabad when the incident occurred, Chowdhury said. PTI CORRABN MRJ ZMNMRJ
