High Court notice to former U’khand CMs on govt facilities

Nainital, Aug 17 (PTI) The Uttarakhand High Court todayissued notice to four former chief ministers of the stateasking them to define their stand on government facilitieslike free accommodation being enjoyed by them years afterrelinquishing office. Issuing the notice, a division bench of the high courtcomprising justices V K Bisht and U C Dhyani directed BhagatSingh Koshiyari, B C Khanduri, Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank andVijay Bahuguna to submit their response within three weeks inthe light of a Supreme Court verdict asking former chiefministers of Uttar Pradesh to surrender the facilitiesaccorded to them as CMs and retained by them till date. The notice was issued on a PIL filed by Rural Litigationand Entitlement Kendra(RLEK), a Dehradun-based NGO headed bynoted rights activist Avdhash Kaushal challenging theconstitutionality of the facilities being availed by theformer chief ministers.
