98 acres excise area to be acquired for freight corridor

Ambala, Aug 19 (PTI) Around 98 acres of land falling inexcise area of Ambala cantonment will be acquired for theconstruction of Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor. After a meeting with the Railway officers here todayDeputy Commissioner Prabhjot Singh directed the revenuedepartment to mark the land. He also asked the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) toremove the constructions made on the said land. Singh said the occupants of the demolished houses wouldbe allotted flats constructed under Ashiyana scheme in HUDAsector on easy installments. The Deputy Commissioner said the house owners would alsobe compensated by the Railway department. Singh said police would remove the encroachment forciblyand strict action would be taken if anyone interfered inremoving them. Some persons had constructed their houses illegally whichwould be removed at every cost, he added. PTI CORR VJ RCJ RGRCJ
