‘Details of kidney donors will be linked with Aadhaar cards’

Palghar (Maha), Aug 21 (PTI) Details of kidney donorswill be linked to their Aadhaar card in a bid to bringtransparency in kidney donation across Maharashtra, stateHealth Minister Deepak Sawant today said. "To bring transparency in kidney donations acrossMaharashtra, the details of the donors will be linked to theAadhaar card. With this, no person can be cheated," theminister, who visited various government hospitals in thedistrict, told reporters here. The move follows bust of an alleged kidneytransplantation racket at the Mumbai-based Dr L H HiranandaniHospital. Sawant, who is from Shiv Sena, said a meeting has beenconvened in Mumbai tomorrow where the issue of setting up aspecial committee for bringing in transparency in kidneytransplantation will be discussed. With regard to issues faced by hospitals and patients,he said a review meeting would be held soon in which shortageof medical staff and doctors would be discussed. PTI CORR NRBSCBAS
