FETO has "infiltrated" India; need action to remove it: Turkey

New Delhi, Aug 21 (PTI) Fethullah Gulen TerroristOrganisation (FETO), blamed for last month’s failed coup totopple President Tayyip Erdogan in Turkey, has "infiltrated"India, according to Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. Asserting that FETO is "secretive transnational criminalnetwork" with presence around the world, Cavusoglu said,"Unfortunately, FETO has also infiltrated India throughassociations and schools." In an interview to PTI after holding talks with his Indiancounterpart Sushma Swaraj, the Turkish Foreign Minister alsosaid, "I have already taken up this issue with mycounterpart." The visiting minister said, "In all countries where FETOhas a presence, we ask them to take immediate actions toremove them from their territories." Asked for a response to the Minister’s comments, ExternalAffairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said the Indianside is "sensitive" to Turkish concerns and Indian securityagencies were "looking into" Ankara’s demand for closure ofassociations connected with FETO which were carrying outillegal activities. Asserting that terrorism, in all its forms andmanifestations constitute a threat to India and Turkey,Cavusoglu said, "Therefore, exchange of information regardingthese threats and bilateral and multilateral cooperation andsolidarity against terrorism is crucial."
