Court reserves judgement on transfer of complaint against MP

Kohima, Aug 22 (PTI) A local court today reserved orderon transfer of a criminal complaint case against formerNagaland chief minister and Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio from thecourt of chief judicial magistrate here to another court. Complainant Rosemary Dzuvichu had on February 11 filed acriminal complaint before CJM Kohima against Rio for filing awrong affidavit regarding his educational qualification in the2014 Lok Sabha elections. After hearing the arguments from the lawyersrepresenting Dzuvichu and Rio, Principal District and Sessionjudge Moangkaba Imchen reserved the judgement. A hearing was earlier fixed for June 27 last in the courtof CJM Kohima Mezivolu T Therieh. However, Rio’s counsel hadfiled a petition before the Principal District and SessionJudge seeking transfer of the case from the CJM’s court toanother court within its division, claiming that the MP wouldnot get justice from there. Dzuvichu’s advocate alleged that Rio was trying to delaythe proceedings of the criminal hearing. PTI NBS KKARC
