Jigisha murder case: Convicts had left long trail of evidence

New Delhi, Aug 22 (PTI) The three convicts in the 2009Jigisha Ghosh murder case had left a long trail of evidencethat helped police nail them down. After murdering the IT executive, Ravi Kapoor, Amit Shuklaand Baljeet used her debit and credit cards for purchasingitems like shoes, TV, goggles, watches at different shops wherethey were captured by CCTV cameras. "There were a lot of evidences against the trio, includingan eyewitness who saw them abducting the girl," said a seniorpolice officer, who was closely associated with theinvestigation. Besides, the use of victim’s debit and credit cards inpurchasing of items, they were also found to be possessingvaluables of Jigisha. In a footage, one of them was seen wearing the victim’sgold chain. Her zodiac sign rings of green and yellow sapphireswere also found on them which were later identified by thevictim’s parents, said the officer. While shopping "carelessly" with victim’s cards, they alsoput in signatures on purchase slips which were later verifiedwith the help of writing experts. Some slips were found underthe bed of Kapoor’s house. The investigators also used mobile tower locations of thetrio at crucial spots, such as place of abduction, dumping ofher body and withdrawl of money using her cards from ATMbooths, he added. 28-year-old Jigisha, working as an operations manager ina management consultancy firm, was abducted and killed onMarch 18, 2009 after she was dropped by her office cab around4 AM near her home in Vasant Vihar area of South Delhi. The convicts Ravi Kapoor and Amit Shukla were today givendeath sentence while Baljeet was awarded lifer by a city courtin the case. PTI VIT DIP ZMNDIP
