Telangana CM presents Rs 5 crore cheque to P V Sindhu

Hyderabad, Aug 22 (PTI) Telangana Chief Minister KChandrasekhar Rao today handed over cheques of Rs five croreand Rs one crore to Olympic silver medallist P V Sindhu andher coach P Gopichand respectively. Rao also announced here that the state would frame a newsports policy and allot necessary funds by the next budget. The chief minister congratulated and felicitated Sindhuand Gopichand, who met him at his camp office here thisevening. Rao also congratulated Sindhu’s parents – P V Ramana and PVijaya, a release from CMO said. The chief minister announced that the government willcome out with a new sports policy and said a meeting will soonbe organised in this regard by inviting prominent sportspersonalities, officials, coaches and representatives ofsports associations. "By the next budget, the new sports policy will beframed and necessary funds will be allotted," he said addingnew stadiums will also be constructed in districts. "There are several talented sportspersons in thedistricts and rural areas and there is a need to identifythem," Rao said. The chief minister also announced a cash reward of Rs 25lakh each to Sindhu’s physiotherapist C Kiran and shuttler KSrikanth. Rao, while extending financial assistance to GopichandAcademy located at Gachibowli here, said more such academiesneeded to be set up in other districts of the state. PTI VVKNPKUN
