3 arrested in 4-year-old boy murder case: Himachal CM

Shimla, Aug 23 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Chief MinisterVirbhadra Singh today informed Vidhan Sabha that all the threeaccused in Yug murder case have been arrested and assured theHouse that action would be taken as per the law. Making a suo moto statement in the House, he said duringinvestigation the rented house of Chander was searched by ateam of forensic experts and CID where "sufficient" evidencewas found. After the confessional statements of suspects, theskeleton of Yug, a four-year-old boy kidnapped two years ago,was found near a water tank at Bharari which is being sent forforensic examination, including DNA profiling, he said. Singh said one Vinod Gupta filed a complaint at the SadarPolice station on June 14, 2014 that his son Yug was missingfrom his residence. Immediate efforts were made by the police but the childcould not be traced anywhere in the vicinity and a criminalcase was registered on June 16, 2014, he said. Preliminary investigations carried out by police, and onJune 27, 2014, a letter was received demanding ransom of Rs3,60,00000 and subsequently three more such letters werereceived, Singh said. The case was transferred to state CID (crime branch) onAugust 14, 2016 and narco analysis test of the servants ofGupta revealed that his neighbour Chander and Kaku could havekidnapped Yug for ransom, he said. Meanwhile, the three accused, booked under revelantsections of IPC, were here and produced in the court of ChiefJudicial Magistrate who remanded them to five days of policecustody. Local JP MAL Suresh Broadway accused the police "for notshowing the desired seriousness" in investigation of the caseand alleged that it was due to "laxity" on their part thatYugo could not be "traced and saved".
