Newly appointed Pb governor visits Golden temple, Wagah border

Amritsar, Aug 23 (PTI) Newly appointed Punjab Governor V PSingh Badnore today paid obeisance at Golden temple, DurgianaMandir and visited Wagah border along with his family. Badnore, who is also the Administrator of Chandigarh,offered floral tributes at the historic Jallianwala Bagh onhis maiden visit to the city after taking oath as Governoryesterday in Chandigarh. He took the full round of ‘parikarma’ around the Goldentemple. After paying obeisance inside the sanctum sanctorum of theGolden temple, he was honoured in the Information Office ofthe temple. The SGPC secretary presented him a shawl, a model ofGolden Temple and a set of religious books. Talking to media, Badnore said that it was a thanks givingvisit to the holy place and to obtain the blessings ofAlmighty so that he could discharge his responsibilitiesaccording to the rules assigned by the Constitution of Indiafor the Governor. Sharing his experience of visit, Badnore said that theplace (Golden temple) transcends man to a higher pedestal,makes him more spiritual and less mundane and he comes outwith purified heart and soul. Replying to a query regarding his future plans for Punjab,the Governor said that Punjab is one of the most importantstates of the country as it produces a large share of foodgrains and farmers of the state have the grit, determinationand capacity to produce enough food grains for the entireAsia. So, he would take stock of the conditions prevalent in thestate and as the Governor and in his personal capacity willput in his utmost for the betterment of Punjab and Punjabis. The Governor along with his wife visited the historicJallianwala Bagh and placed floral wreaths at the Flame ofLiberty. Later, Badnore paid obeisance at Durgiana Temple and washonoured by the members of the Durgiana Trust. Later, the Governor along with his family visited Wagahborder. PTI CORR VJ DBS RGDBS
