Some officers creating hurdles in govt schemes: Akhilesh

Lucknow, Aug 23 (PTI) In a statement which might not gowell with the bureaucracy, Uttar Pradesh Chief MinisterAkhilesh Yadav today said some officers have allegiance toother political parties in the state and they were creatinghurdles in implementation of government schemes. "As far as dial 100 scheme is concerned, we want to bringit. We have got some good and some bad officers. I know thatsome of our officers have allegiance to other parties and theydo not want this scheme to get functional," he said at aninfrastructure meet here. "If dial 100 number becomes functional, then police willreach the spot within 10 minutes and it will become an examplebefore the entire country. These officers are creating ahurdle in this but we have found out a way," he said. "We have a very good chief secretary. He will see who issitting on the file. If the CM is standing behind him, he willclear the file," Akhilesh said. Attacking BJP which has been cornering the stategovernment over the law and order issue, the CM said, "They(BJP) want a debate on law and order. But before that theyshould look in their own states. They look so weak on theborders." "I have attended army schools and many of my schoolmatesare serving on the borders. The entire country knows what thesituation on the borders is," he said. Referring to BJP’s charge that many senior leaders wereruling the state by proxy, he said, "You might have read theallegation of five-and-a-half CMs in UP many times. I say youfind out one (CM candidate), then it will be decided, who isleading and who is lagging behind. This will be decided by thepeople of the state." "I am a new Chief Minister but I have done a lot undertraining. Think what I will do in times to come. We will workwith more transparency. We want to go among people on thebasis of our work but other parties want to take the things inother direction," he said. Referring to BJP’s ongoing ‘tiranga’ yatra, he said whileUP is poll-bound, the saffron brigade was taking out ‘yatras’. "We unfurled the national flag on August 15. I don’t knowtill when BJP people will unfurl the flag. We are not againstit but in which direction they want to take the country. Whatis the definition of ‘achche din’," he said. On Congress projecting Sheila Dikshit as the ChiefMinisterial candidate for the upcoming assembly polls, hesaid, "Congress said it wants to project an upper caste as CMcandidate. Tell in which direction they want to take thecountry." Attacking the media, he said it highlights Bulandshahrand Mathura incidents underlining the law and order problem inthe state but it never gives prominence to what is happeningin Delhi and Haryana.
