‘India marching towards self reliance in missile system’

Hyderabad, Aug 24 (PTI) India is steadfastly marchingtowards complete self-reliance in missile systems andtechnologies, Scientific Advisor to the Defence Minister GSatheesh Reddy said today. "To create a significant impact on India’s science andtechnology and to promote highest standard of engineeringeducation and practices, professional societies, scientificbodies and academic institutes have to re-align the youngforce of the country towards the forefronts of current needsand developments," said Satheesh, also the Director General,Missiles and Strategic Systems, DRDO. The distinguished scientist was today presented withprestigious IEI-IEEE Award for Engineering Excellence-2015 inrecognition of his significant national contribution towardsMissiles and Aerospace technologies at Bengaluru, an officialrelease said here. The award was given by ISRO chairman A S Kiran Kumarin the presence of Barry L Shoop, President, IEEE USA, amongothers, during the ceremony as part of the Golden Jubileecelebrations of the IEEE Asia-Pacific Region at Bengaluru. "His pioneering work in Navigation and Avionicstechnologies has been integral in the success of severaldefence projects making India self reliant in many vitalareas," it said.
