Date:

Hyderabad, Aug 24 (PTI) Telangana government plans toshift polluting industries out of the city, state UrbanDevelopment Minister K T Rama Rao said today. "We want to make Hyderabad a city sans industrialpollution, a city with zero industrial pollution. We aretrying to relocate the ‘red’ and ‘orange’ industries fromwithin outer ring road (ORR) to outside of the city," he said. These include chemical units, those in ferro-alloysspace and makers of bulk drugs, said Rama Rao, who also holdsthe portfolios of Industries, Commerce and IT. "There is no need for industries already certified forcomplying with zero liquid discharge to shift," he added. "Those who are not (compliant), will be definitelyrequested to relocate to different clusters outside ORR in atime-bound phased manner," he said at the CII-organised"MAN’EXE-2016" on the theme ‘Make in Telangana: SustainableGrowth through Innovation and Future Technologies’. The relocation does not mean shifting of the pollutionproblem from Hyderabad to another area, said Rao who is alsothe Municipal Administration minister. "When they shift to these clusters, they should be 100per cent pollution-free. We also have a plan in a time-boundmanner, along with Telangana State Industrial InfrastructureCorporation, to create common affluent treatment plants ineach of these clusters even before these industries move outso that there is no pollution problem in new locations," theminister said. As part of relocation, the government would come outwith a separate incentive policy, under which industries whichmove out would be incentivised, Rama Rao added. PTI RS GK RCJBAS
