Vigilance to probe irregularities in meet organised by Kerala

police Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 24 (PTI) The Vigilance andAnti-Corruption Bureau in Kerala has launched probe into thealleged corruption and irregularities during the internationalcyber security conference organised by the state police lastweek. Vigilance sleuths visited the hotel, the venue ofthe conference, at Kollam and collected evidence, officialsources said today. Vigilance Director and Director General of Police JacobThomas ordered the inquiry based on complaints ofirregularities in the utilisation of funds for the meet,they said. The two-day International Cyber Security and PolicingConference, titled ‘CoCon 2016’, concluded on August 20. Besides the alleged corruption in fund usage, the openingof a beer parlour at the resort, once closed down by Excisedepartment, during the conference days would also be lookedinto, they said. Organised by the Kerala Police, ‘Cocon’ is an annualevent conducted as part of the International InformationSecurity Day. The event was envisaged to enhance internationalpartnerships among public and private professionals to preventand combat cyber crime. PTI LGK UD VSKIS
