Motherhood takes vanity out of the picture: Lara Dutta

Mumbai, Aug 26 (PTI) She is a former Miss Universe and asuccessful actress but for Lara Dutta self-love has taken abackseat post motherhood. The 38-year-old "Azhar" actress says after having a kidthe focus immediately shifts from yourself to the child. "Motherhood takes vanity completely out of the picture.Comfort is the key. When you are coming out of a plane after a9-hour flight with drool all over your clothes, the last thingyou are worried about is being photographed. You just want totake your kid home," Lara told PTI. The actress and her husband tennis star Mahesh Bhupati areparents to four-year-old daughter Saira and she says her littleone is the biggest fashion police. "She is my biggest fashion police and has a say ineverything I wear. And I guess she should have a say. She looksat everything and has authority on my hair, make up andclothes." Lara walked the ramp for designer Eshaa Amiin at theongoing Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016 and the formermodel said the ramp still makes her nervous. "It’s exciting to walk the ramp every time. No matter howmany times you have walked, every show has its own mood andfeel so there is something to look forward to every time. "Energy of the crowd and as as a model you tend to bechameleon and contribute to your look. Even after so manyyears, I feel a bit nervous." Lara is happy that the fashion scene is more organised nowand Indian models are being recognised on the world stage. "Modelling and fashion world is still chaotic but a lotmore organised than before. Earlier there were few models andpeople became queen of the catwalk but now things are morecompetitive and I am happy that I am kind of out from thatmodelling scene and doing different things. "Now even international models are coming. Plus it’sfantastic that girls from India like Laxmi Menon are goinginternational." On work front, Lara will soon start working on her nextproduction venture. PTI SHDBK
