Kolkata, Aug 27 (PTI) Apollo Gleneagles, a part of ApolloHospitals group, will invest Rs 300 crore to increase thenumber of beds in the next three years. "The number of beds at Apollo Gleaneagles will beincreased from 700 to 1,000 in the next three years. Typicalcost for setting up one bed is Rs 1 crore," MD and CEO ofApollo Rupali Basu told reporters here today. The hospital is the largest private healthcare facility ineastern India. Apollo had also acquired 51 per cent stake in NationalHospitals at Guwahati which would be re-branded, she said. Basu said Apollo Gleneagles is working towards making thefirst heart transplant in the city for which the hospital wastaking baby steps. For this it organised a meet of physicians from across thenation for discussing clinical advancements and innovation invarious medical disciplines. Head of the department of gastroenterology Mahesh Goenkasaid the hospital was willing to treat and diagnose patientsby conducting tests in a single day like some other hospitalsin the southern part of the country.
