Was waiting for right script: Ritesh Sidhwani on ‘Rock On!! 2’

Mumbai, Aug 29 (PTI) It took the makers of musical drama"Rock On!!" eight years to come back with a sequel, andproducer Ritesh Sidhwani says they were in search of the rightstory to take the franchise forward. The 2008 hit film featured Farhan Akhtar, Prachi Desai(both in their Bollywood acting debut), Arjun Rampal and PurabKohli among others. "Rock On!! 2", directed by debutant Shujaat Saudagar,reunites most of its cast with an addition of Shraddha Kapoorand will emulate passion for music, friendship and aims togive audience some ear-pleasing music like the first movie. "We were waiting for the right script to take thisfranchise forward and the best part about this script isthat it offers a platform for the next generation to takecentre stage," Ritesh said in a statement. Farhan, who also made his singing debut with the movie,says the movie will remain close to his heart. "’Rock on!!’ will always remain one of my most specialfilms since it opened a new chapter in my life, of acting.Thereon, I got a chance to explore even more interestingopportunities and continue learning," said the 42-year-oldactor. "Now that we are releasing the sequel, the sameexcitement is there and we hope this one receives a lot morelove from the audiences," he said. The sequel, which like the first film has music byShankar-Ehsaan-Loy, will release on November 11. PTI SSNPSH
