School teacher arrested for trying to wipe face with flag

Kannur, Aug 31 (PTI) A teacher was arrested here today forallegedly insulting the national flag at a school at Payangadiin Kerala’s northern Kannur district. According to the police, the incident occurred on August16 when Irfan Ali (36), hailing from Bihar, had allegedlycrumbled the small flag in an attempt to wipe his face. A case was registered against him under section 2 of thePrevention of Insult to National Honour Act after a studentbrought the matter to the notice of the school administrationwhich, in turn, informed the police. The accused has been lodged in prison for the non-bailableoffence, police said. PTI UD RCRC
