Land grabbing case in Vizag; Nayeem’s link suspected

Visakhapatnam, Sep 1 (PTI) The SC/ST cell of the Vizagpolice today registered a case of land-grabbing in whichinvolvement of the Naxal-turned-gangster Mohd Nayeemuddin, whowas killed in an encounter with police last month, issuspected. The complaint, received by Bheemili Police, wastransferred to the SC/ ST cell today. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ST/SC cell) B MohanRao said a Dalit man named B Bhushanam from Ampavalli inVizianagaram district has lodged a complaint that DSuryanarayana Varma and others did not allow him to enter hisland in Kapuluppada area. Bhusanam had purchased two plots measuring about fouracres for Rs 75,000 in 1988. Varma who owns adjacent landallegedly tried to grab it, and warned Bhusanam of direconsequences if he resisted, claiming links with Nayeemuddin. Bhushanam mustered up courage to approach the police whenhe heard about NayeemuddinÂ’s death and subsequent probe byan SIT into the gangster’s land-grabbing activities. PTI CORKRK
