LIC Ernakulam division ranks 3rd in terms of growth, in India

Kochi, Sep 1 (PTI): The Ernakulam division of LifeInsurance Corporation (LIC) ranks third in terms of growthin India in terms of growth rate and achievement of premium, asenior LIC official said here today. In terms of growth rate (136.62 per cent) and achievementof premium (51 per cent), the division occupies third positionin the entire country and first place in the South Zone,whichcomprises Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry, Senior DivisionalManager, LIC Ernakulam, A Soosai Manickam said. "Our direct marketing unit has achieved its budget wellin time occupying the Numero Uno position in the country.Theycould cross the budget of Rs 9.5 crore premium by mid Augustand now the collection is over Rs 14 crore," he added. He said the Ernakulam division occupies first place inthe country in Absolute Volume in number of policies inmobilization of Health Insurance Policies (1250 policies). Manickam emphasised the need to expand operations ofLife Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) during its diamondjubilee year. Meanwhile, expressing concern over the lack of insurancecoverage among accident victims, he said, only six victimsamong the over 100 people who died in the Kollam Puttingaltemple fireworks tragedy had insurance coverage.
