SC denies nod to Vedanta Group for exporting iron ore from Ktk

New Delhi, Sep 1 (PTI) The Supreme Court today refusedpermission to Vedanta Group to export iron ore mined fromKarnataka while allowing National Mineral DevelopmentCorporation (NMDC) to continue with the dual pricing of theminerals. A bench headed by Justice Ranjan Gogoi said in itsverdict that NMDC is free to fix the price of minerals andcontinue with the dual pricing. The apex court also rejected the prayer of Vedanta Groupfor referring the matter to the High Court for adjudication. The company had challenged the decision by acourt-appointed monitoring committee denying it the permissionto export the iron ore. The court also rejected a plea by Karnataka Iron andSteel Manufacturers’ Association (KISMA) to do away with theNMDC’s policy of dual pricing of the iron ore. The bench also refused to direct the monitoring committeeto fix base price for iron ore. PTI MNL SJK RKS RRTRT
