Khajuraho (MP), Sep 1 (PTI) Tourism Ministers of BRICScountries met at the world-famous temple city Khajuraho for atwo-day long conference that began today. Although the ‘BRICS Convention on Tourism’ was scheduledto be inaugurated by Union Tourism and Culture Minister DrMahesh Sharma, he could not make it to the event, which is aprecursor to the BRICS Summit to be held in Goa on October15-16. Speaking on the occasion, Madhya Pradesh Tourism MinisterSurendra Patwa said tourism would get a major boost with theparticipation of BRICS nations in this two-day long meet. "With the participation of all BRICS nations in the meet,tourism will get a major boost in the country," an officialrelease quoted Patwa as saying. He said through this event, the state will get experiencein boosting tourism. "It is a matter of pride for India that BRICS nations’Tourism Ministers’ conference is being held in Khajuraho…Infuture as well, Madhya Pradesh will get an opportunity to hostsuch events," he added. Earlier, Union Tourism Secretary Vinod Zutshi said thepurpose of the meet was to enhance tourism with the use oflatest technology and information among the BRICS nations. The tourism representatives of South Africa and China alsoexpressed their views on the occasion. On India’s ‘Atulya Bharat’ campaign, Madhya Pradesh, UttarPradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar made presentations.
