Stalin urges TN govt to move SC on Siruvani issue

Coimbatore, Sep 3 (PTI) DMK treasurer and Oppositionleader in Tamil Nadu Assembly M K Stalin today said ChiefMinister Jayalalithaa should move the Supreme Court to preventthe proposal by Kerala government to construct a dam acrossSiruvani river. Addressing party workers here, he said Jayalalithaa shouldhave moved the Supreme Court and obtained a stay on theproposal to construct the dam. The AIADMK MPs also failed to raise the issue in theParliament, he said, adding construction of dam would affectthe supply of drinking water in Coimbatore, Erode and Tirupurdistricts. The government should also immediately convene an allparty meeting and take steps to meet Prime Minister NarendraModi to stop the move, he said. PTI NVM RCKISTRK
