Recently star cricketer AB de Villiers launched his book AB: The Autobiography in Johannesburg. During the book launch event, he described his book by saying “It’s just a good story and it’s an honest story.”
In his book, he mentioned that the cricket bodies around the globe were in the state of shock when the BCCI announced its plans for IPL and even criticized the decision.
In a chapter titled as ‘Inspired by India’, he wrote, “However, to be fair, the history books will record that it was the BCCI that got the job done and, in 2008, created the tournament that transformed the game,”.
“It was the BCCI that built the platform on which cricketers were suddenly being paid up to USD 1.5 million to perform for seven weeks,” he wrote.
De Villiers also wrote that he was amazed when he heard that Delhi Daredevils had bought you for USD 300,000 per year in a three-year deal.
Mentioning his friendship with Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle he said that it was “a privilege” for him. He said, “For Virat, the bat was a surgeon’s knife”. It is important to note that AB’s book is receiving a huge response in India even before it’s launch.
